NSW:Gov indifferent to household pressures

Shadow treasurer JOE HOCKEY says the federal government is indifferent to the pressure
on households suffering from price increases .. and is using recent natural disasters
as an excuse.

Australia's consumer price index was higher than expected .. jumping 1.6 per cent in
the March quarter for an annual inflation rate of 3.3 per cent.

Vegetable and fruit prices recorded the largest spikes during the quarter .. up 16
per cent and 14.5 per cent respectively .. while fuel prices jumped 8.8 per cent.

Mr HOCKEY says Treasurer WAYNE SWAN showed how out of touch he is when he said the
Bureau of Statistics data was not surprising .. given the natural disasters over summer.
