The AAPC is honored to have Dr. James Thurber, the Director of the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies at the American University, as the chairperson for its Third Academic Outreach Conference. After successful conferences at Louisiana State University and Harvard College, the AAPC is excited to host the event at American University in the heart of the political world, Washington, DC.
As a faculty member at the school since 1974, Dr. Thurber has been honored as American University's Scholar/Teacher of the Year and has written numerous books and over fifty articles and chapters on Congress, campaigns and elections. Dr. Thurber is also currently the principal investigator of a six-year study of campaign conduct sponsored by the Pew Charitable Trust.
Since the First Academic Outreach Conference in 1999, the AAPC has strived to bring together the top practitioners and academics in the field of political consulting in an effort to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about the tactical and ethical challenges of professional politics. The conference also provides students with a unique opportunity to get to know top consultants and begin building their professional network.
The Third Annual Academic Outreach Conference will be held in November of 2002.
